Questions

Frequently asked.

What does MakerKit3D do?

Our service takes your OBJ file and automatically generates a detailed parts list with dimensions and a cutlist. Cut diagrams nest your parts onto sheets and boards, and every part gets a dimensioned drawing you can print in a Shop Packet.

What file formats do you support?

Currently, our platform accepts OBJ files — the most common and readily available format in 3D CAD software like SketchUp, Fusion 360, and Shapr3D.

What do I get with MakerKit3D?

The full Build Kit: a parts list with real dimensions, cut diagrams with grain-aware nesting, dimensioned part drawings, and the print-ready Shop Packet. A complete workflow from CAD model to the bench.

Does it handle joinery like dados and miters?

Yes. Each part is drawn with real dimensions — a dado shows as hidden layout lines with chained measurements, an angled cut gets an angle callout, and curved parts fall back to an overall bounding-box drawing so you never get a wrong measurement.
